The original "Wedding Cake" used to be Fruit Cake...Thank goodness we've come SO far from those days! While the wedding cake is still the focal point of any reception, the options are ENDLESS! Cakes, cheesecakes, pies, tarts, kolaches, donuts, ice cream, cupcakes, macaroons, cookies....and the limitless flavors!! Any dessert can become a stand in to the traditional wedding cake, and satisfy the pickiest of sweet tooth. The best cakes and desserts are those created from scratch with real ingredients. Sweet treat artists have mastered these ingredients and even offer options for those with dietary restrictions.
PRO TIP 1: While saving the top tier of the cake has become more of a thing of the past, if you so desire, be sure to have a box provided for storing it after the reception.
PRO TIP 2: "Cake cutting" fees are extra for most caterers, and not all provide cake plates, napkins, and forks unless pre-requested. It is suggested that if you are having family cut the cake, that you provide them with the necessities to do the job (gloves, knives, and a diagram of how to cut the cake).
